Raagamayuri group to set up a mega Food Park on Telangana-Andhra border
Kurnool-based Ragamayuri Group has planned a mega food park and an electronic park with the centre of activity on Telangana-Andhra border. The core food park will come up at Putandoddi in Mahabubnagar District of Telangana, 35 km from here and the processing centres at Kurnool, Ranga Reddy, Anantapur and Kadapa. Group Chairman K.J. Reddy said that the company would invest about Rs. 112 crore to create infrastructure for 50 individual units which will be engaged in various activities of food processing and value addition. The project was approved by Central Ministry of Food Processing, which would provide a grant of Rs. 50 crore. The investment size of the guest companies are likely to be in the range of Rs. 2,000 crore. As part of the infrastructure, the host company will build roads, power lines, cold storage of the capacity of 5,000 tonnes, dry godowns of 80,000 tonnes, silos of the capacity of 10,000 tonnes testing lab, reefer vehicles, ripening chambers, solar plant of 2 mw capacity and a training centre. According to the promoters, the food park was likely to create 10,000 jobs and marketing facilities for one lakh farmers. The food park would be operational by July 2017. The park is likely to process pulses, cereals and fruits like mango, papaya, citrus, guava and vegetables like tomato, brinjal, lady’s finger, onion and a variety of other vegetables. The food park would have strategic links with markets at Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Vijayawada. The guest companies could either own the land or lease it on long-term basis. Also, the group plans an electronic park at Kodikonda with facility to manufacture LED lamps, medical and aerospace electronic components and mobile assembling. Five companies hired the facility so far. The park would attract an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore. Mr. Reddy said that the din created by bifurcation blues had subsided now and one should think of business beyond state boundaries. With the same spirit, the group forayed into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

It is one of the two mega food parks approved by the Centre for Telangana, is coming up on 125 acres in Mahabunagar district Raagamayuri Mega Food Park coming up in Mahabubnagar district is eyeing Rs 2,000 crore in total investments as it intend to attract over 100 agro-processing units starting from the year 2017.Promoted by private firm Raaga Mayuri Agrovet Privated Limited, a part of diversified KJR Group, the mega food park, one of the two such parks sanctioned by the central government for Telangana recently, is expected to provide better and improved marketing facilities to farm produce, benefiting over 1 lakh farmers in Mahabubnagar district. “Recently, we have received in-principle approval from the Union Ministry of Food Processing. We are developing the park on 125 acres with an aim to attract over 100 food processing units with cumulative investments up to Rs 2,000 crore. It will create direct and indirect employment to over 10,000 people,” K Bhaskar Reddy, Chief Executive Officer, Raagamayuri Mega Food Park, told The Hans India. The first unit is expected to go operational in 2017. According to him, the park is ideally located near NH 18 (Hyderabad-Bangalore highway) at Puttandoddi village in Itikyal mandal of Mahabubnagar district. “The location is just 20 km from Andhra Pradesh border. Importantly, it is just 150 km away from Hyderabad airport and 350 km from Bangalore. Therefore, we can develop this as a logistics hub for farm produce. It will cater to the big markets in the region,” Reddy explained.He further said nearly Rs 112 crore would be invested for developing infrastructure such as cold storage and other facilities in the park. Of that, the central government will provide Rs 50 crore as grant while the remaining amount will be invested by the company via equity and debt routes. The park is expected to attract sauce and juice making units among others. “We will procure farm produce such as carat, tomato, colour capsicum etc from Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts in Telangana in addition to Ananthapur, Kurnool and Kadapa in AP. Besides, we will process them and supply raw materials to the units there,” he explained.
Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal urges farmers to venture into food processing
Badal has exhorted farmers to adopt the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana and venture into food processing to supplement their income. The minister claimed several projects under the scheme would generate more than 5 lakh jobs and benefit more than 10 lakh farmers. “The setting up of 42 mega food parks alone will lead to direct employment for 2.1 lakh people.” The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries has issued an expression of interest for three schemes under the <a href="https://www.raagamayurimegafoodpark.com/">Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana</a> — unit scheme, scheme for creation of infrastructure for agro processing clusters popularly known as cluster scheme, and scheme for backward and forward linkages.
